Foreclosure Assistance Events

Governmental agencies, elected officials, organizations, and local community groups have been sponsoring foreclosure assistance events all across Maryland. Such events not only let homeowners know that there is help available; some also provide homeowners an opportunity to work with counselors, loan servicers, and legal assistance. The Department of Housing and Community Development and the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation regularly participate in and support a range of foreclosure assistance events around Maryland.

Myths and Facts

  • MYTH: Asking for help is a sign of not being financially in control, so foreclosure prevention counseling should be the last option a delinquent homeowner considers.
  • FACT: Proactively seeking help with a delinquent mortgage loan is smart. Most often, the longer a homeowner waits to seek help with late mortgage payments the more difficult it will be to obtain a positive outcome.
